연말연시가 되면 우리 주변의 소외된 이웃을 돌아보게 되는데요.

At the end of the year, we look around to see our neighbors who are poor and sick. 뉴욕에는 어려운 이웃을 직접 찾아가 음악을 선물하는 동포 합창단이 있다고 합니다.

There is a Korean musical organization in New York that is reaching out to those who are in need of help.

창 밖에는 함박눈이 내리고, 작은 무대에서는 흥겨운 캐럴이 울려퍼집니다.

It’s snowing outside and there are rhythmic carols resounding on this small stage. 한 복지시설에서 열린 크리스마스 음악회.

Christmas music concert in welfare facility. 화려한 무대장치도 조명도 없지만 여기 모인 사람들은 음악으로 하나가 됩니다.

There are no colorful lightings but everyone become one with the music. [인터뷰:전선덕, 장애인 복지시설 원장]

[Interview: Sun-Duk Jeon, Director of welfare facility for disabilities] "아무도 찾아주지 않는 이곳에 눈이 오는데도 오셔서 시간 보내주시고 우리 아이들과 함께 해주셔서 감사합니다."

“We thank everyone for taking their time to coming to our facility in spite of massive snow storm.” 이 무대는 뉴욕을 중심으로 활동하는 동포 봉사단체가 7년째 마련하고 있습니다.

This performance has been provided by a Korean service organization based in New York for the past seven years. 장애를 가진 동포 어린이들에게 음악으로 희망과 용기를 전하기 위해서 입니다.

It is to bring hope and courage to Korean disabled children. [인터뷰:서혜선, 이노비 합창단원]

[Interview: Hae-sun Suh, Hyungjin Cha, EnoB Performer] "저의 재능을 통해서 조금이나마 사회환원을 할 수 있다는 마음이 저를 더 기쁘게 하는 것 같고 또 제가 더 많이 얻어 가는 것 같아요."

“It makes me happy to giving back to our society something good through my talent.” 설립 이후 지금까지 이들은 좀처럼 문화 공연을 접하기 힘든 병원과 양로원 등을 돌며 100회가 넘는 공연을 열었습니다.

EnoB organization performed more than 100 times to hospitals nursing homes where it’s difficult for them to experience cultural performance activities. 재능 기부에 나선 회원 3백여 명과 동포들의 후원 덕분에 가능했던 일입니다.

This service was possible through more 300 Korean American sponsors. [인터뷰:강태욱, 이노비 대표]

[Interview: Tae-Wok Kang, President of EnoB] "뉴욕의 지역 사회뿐만 아니라 서울, 중국, 북한 동포에게 더 멀리, 더 넓은 다양한 사람들에게 다가갈 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다."

“I wish I could reach out to other Koreans who are in need in a wide variety of places such as Seoul, China, and North Korea.” 소외된 이웃에게 전하는 음악 선물.

Music gift to our isolated neighbors. 기쁨은 나누면 배가 되듯 음악에 실린 이웃 사랑은 모두의 마음을 풍성하게 채워줄 것입니다.

Love that is full of love fulfils our heart as happiness multiply as you share. "메리 크리스마스!"
